Q: Fines - Will there be late fees for overdue materials?
A: Overdue fines are being assessed as of August 22, 2021. If you have questions about your account, contact Circulation at (954) 262-4601 OR firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: Holds - Can I place a library material on hold?
A: Yes. All library users may place a material on hold in the catalog. You will receive an email notification when it is available to pick up at the Circulation Desk.
Q: Returns - Can I come in to return my books?
A: All borrowed materials must be returned to one of the exterior book drops, including InterLibrary Loan books. Returned materials are quarantined for 24 hours before they are returned to the stacks.
Materials from the Alvin Sherman Library can also be returned at any Broward County Public Library book drop.
An exception is any Interlibrary Loan material picked up at the Sherman Library must be returned to the Sherman Library
Q: Library Cards - How do I sign up for an Alvin Sherman Library card? What do I do if I have a card but cannot find it?
If you already have a library card but cannot find it, please contact the Circulation Department at email@example.com for further assistance.
Q: Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery - How do I order materials through Interlibrary Loan or Document Delivery?
A: Library users can place a request through Illiad. Articles and book chapter requests will be delivered electronically. Books and other physical materials may be picked up at the Circulation Desk or mailed to the address in your Illiad account.
Q: Donations - Are you accepting book donations?
A: Yes, small book donations may be placed in the Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd. circle drop box or exterior drop box on ASL building. We are not accepting large donations at this time.
Q: Events - Are library events and programs still happening?
A: The Alvin Sherman Library is offering online events for all ages! Please check our event calendar for a full list of virtual events for children, teens and adults.

Q: Hours - Is the Alvin Sherman Library open?
A: Yes! We are open to NSU students, faculty, staff, and Broward County public patrons.

Q: Study Rooms - Can I still reserve or use a study room?
A: Patrons may place study room reservations online at https://sherman.library.nova.edu/rooms. You will need your SharkID or Alvin Sherman Library card to check out a study room. Pick up your room key at the Circulation desk on the first floor of the library. All study rooms are for one person use only. Adherence to this policy is mandatory. Violations may result to removal from study room, and/or suspension of study room use, and/or report to the appropriate Dean (for NSU patrons). Q: Food/Drink Policy - Can I eat or drink in the library?
A: A face covering must be worn at all times within the library. Food and drink are only permitted in the West End Deli seating area (located on the first floor, behind the elevators).
Although service at the deli is not available at this time (reopens August 23rd), you may bring your own food and drink into that area.
Q: Computers - Can I use a library computer?
A: Computers are available, but limited due to physical distancing guidelines. Guest passes can be obtained at any service desk in the Library.
Q: Capacity - What is the capacity of the library building?
A: Maximum patron capacity in the building is 500 people.
