A total of 72 respondents completed the Non Library User version of the NSU Libraries' Student Survey, 2016. The survey was sent out to 39,755 students. This was the cumulative unduplicated headcount of all active students in Banner. 0.18% of the students responding to the survey identified themselves as Non Library Users. 26.39 % of the respondent to the Non Library User survey, identified themselves as being affiliated with one of the Health Professional Division colleges. 23.61%, identified themselves as being in the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship.
Question 1: How important it is for the library to focus on each of these areas?
Students were asked to indicate which they felt was very important, somewhat important, not important, don’t’ know or no opinion. 60 students felt most strongly about having increased digital access to unique or rare primary source materials (83%) followed by having an easier or more effective way to find full text journal information after finding a citation (81.95%). Students were least interested in having functional and esthetic improvements to library study spaces.
Question 2: What factors would influence you to use the library more? (Check all that apply)
Students were asked to check off as many as applied on the following influences:
72 students responded and marked off a total of 182 choices that applied to them. Four comments were also left.
The top three things that influence students the most were: Class assignments (29 or 40.28%); profess/advisor/chair (28 or 38.89%); and quiet study (22 or 30.56%). Besides “other”, the least likely reason was the Food and Drink policy and Family/Friends (both 8 and 11.11%)
Question 3: What are some sources you use to find information?
There were 52 responses to this question. 4 of the responses indicated that the question was N/A.
21 students indicated they used the Internet or web to find materials. Twelve indicated library online resources. Seven identified Google or Google Scholar through the library website and two indicated free medical databases online. Other individuals indicated other items such as books, or described how they accessed the sources.
Question 4: Is there any particular reason you do not use one of NSU’s libraries or online resources?
55 students responded to this question. 10 indicated that the question was N/A or that they used the library. Ten people indicated that they had not started classes or had just started and one indicated that they were not an NSU student. Nine respondents indicated they could not access the physical library as they were out of state or attended classes elsewhere. Two commented on the library being crowded and noisy.

72 students answered this question. The largest number of students (40) responded that they attended classes online – 55.56%, more than half. The next largest number of students (24), attended classes on the Ft. Lauderdale-Davie campus, which was 33.33% or one third of respondents.
